About MB and the Authors
This site is dedicated to the Xavier Men’s Basketball team. It is written by two [awesome] dudes that graduated from Xavier University in May, 2007. These dudes are Golfitup and Ledgewood. Golfitup and Ledgewood were simply huge XU BBall fans that lived to go to games and cheer on our Muskies. Donning funny hats and blue painted-on mustaches, they sat in the front row for almost every home game and gave it their all as fans. Now that they are old people, they must watch games from their respective hometowns miles away. These are their insights, opinions, findings, etc., and they encourage all XU fans to join the discussion.

I have already pre-ordered the book. I think it said the book will be shipped out on September 30th. Either way, I shall plow through the book.

Hmmm, i just realized you are the author of the book so id imagine you know when the book will be for sale. Anyways, thanks for writing the book and i’m sure it’ll be great given the number of interviews with former Xavier players and coaches.

“Xavier Tales” is in early. I am working on sending out to all who ordered it. … The book should be available at the Xavier bookstore and at The Enquirer (312 Elm) right now. If you order online, I’ll send out as soon as I can. … There are fewer than 4,000 copies available. Once those are gone, that will be it. … I have an Oct. 11 book signing set up at Joseph-Beth (with Ralph Lee and Steve Wolf) and Dec. 13 at Borders in Tri-County (Gary Lumpkin so far). More will follow. Michael Perry

The next “Xavier Tales” book signings are this coming weekend.
Michael Davenport, former XU player and coach, will join me at 6 p.m. Friday (Oct. 24) before the Blue-White scrimmage at Cintas Center. We’ll be near the front entrance outside the bookstore.
Byron Larkin and Walt McBride will be with me from 1-3 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 25) at the Borders in Eastgate (4530 Eastgate Boulevard, 513.943.0068).
Davenport started three straight years for Pete Gillen, including on the Xavier team that upset Georgetown in the 1990 NCAA Tournament and advanced to the Sweet 16 for the first time. Davenport finished his career with 1,172 points and was 15th on the school’s all-time scoring list when he graduated. He was later a member of Skip Prosser’s coaching staff in the late 1990s.
Larkin, a four-year starter for Bob Staak and Gillen, is Xavier’s all-time leading scorer (2,696 points). He led the Musketeers in scoring four consecutive years and holds school records for most field goals, most field goals attempted, most games scoring in double figures and most career 20-point games. A Moeller High School graduate, he is now the analyst on Xavier radio broadcasts. (Not that Byron needs any introduction.)
McBride, Xavier’s leading rebounder in 1985, was a starter in the mid-1980s for Staak and Gillen. He is a former XU radio analyst and currently is the boys basketball coach at Purcell Marian High School. McBride is a graduate of Summit Country Day.
“Xavier Tales” came out two months ago and can also be ordered online at http://www.xaviertales.com.
Thanks, Michael Perry
