The Blogosphere has joined the Twitter ranks…

May 5, 2009

twitter

Let me justify.  I really enjoy the facebook, so I feel as though it would be rather hypocritical for me to turn my nose up at Twitter.  Now I’ve gone and done this without telling my partner in crime Ledgewood because he is very anti-twitter.  But screw him!  However, I just figure this could be a fun way to leave some (hopefully) witty anecdotes that aren’t worth making full posts about on the blog.  So feel free to follow us over at Twitter.  The website is twitter.com/muskieblog

Let’s go X!

HAVING NO POWER SUCKS BALLS!!!!!

September 16, 2008

It’s been over 48 hours now with no power.  Goddamn you Ike!  Went out at around 12:30 on Sunday afternoon and we’re still going strong here.  I now realize how much I take electricity for granted.

Any who, I’m at a friend’s house right now and being back on the internet is like I reconnected with a long lost friend.  Only I haven’t seen him/her for just three days instead of months or years.

DrewLav Not A Summer Cav!

July 9, 2008

Welp, looks like Drew will not be wearing any Cavs apparel afterall.  The Cleveland professional basketball team announced today on their internet web page site that the roster is in, and there is no XU grad on the list.  I guess they just didn’t want anyone under 6 feet on the list.  Oh, well.  At least this guy’s back…

Other guards that made it are Billy Thomas from Kansas like a decade ago,  some French dude, a rookie from Butler,3 dudes from the ‘05 draft that i’ve never heard of, and Dru Joyce who played at Akron and I’m assuming with LeKing.

David West > Dirk Nowitzki

April 21, 2008

As you probably have surmised, the posts will not be coming thick and fast here at the MB now that the off-season is in full swing. Although this year’s incoming class is our best on paper we don’t really pay much attention to recruiting. I dont know, I just dont feel like putting too much of my time and energy into the minds of high school kids. So bear with us as the off-season months continue to bludgeon us in the head.

With that being said, the NBA playoffs are upon us and that will do a lot to help get over the end of the finest Musketeer basketball season to date. If you love college ball, but are indifferent/hate the NBA I don’t know what to tell ya. That just makes no sense to me. I thoroughly enjoy the NBA even though I don’t have a horse in the race. These are the best players in the world. If you like basketball, then you should like the NBA.

Unless you already have a favorite NBA team, then David West and the New Orleans Hornets should be your adopted team for the playoffs. Not only was West an all-star this season, he also makes lesser players like Dirk Nowitzki his personal beeyatch.

However, watching the Hornets takes on a somewhat bitter tone for me because they very well could have been the Louisville Hornets. One of the local sports columnists at the Courier-Journal wrote a sarcastic column today about how awful it would be to have the Hornets in town this year with Chris Paul and David West lighting it up. I know I would be completely into this team if they were here. And to have D West on the team would make it that much better. Oh well, New Orleans probably needs the team more than Louisville anyways.

Sigh… pt. 2

March 28, 2008

Whoever this clowntown is on ESPN News is just announced that Xavier will be giving their press conference in 5 minutes.  He mentioned that Xavier will be talking about being in the Elite Eight.  He also mentioned that Xavier has never been to the Elite Eight.  Christ.

Sigh…

March 28, 2008

Someone please tell ESPN that Xavier won last night.

I’m sitting here getting ready for work at about 6:50, and on the ESPN News Bottom Line it says that the Elite 8 game is at 6:40 on Saturday, featuring the #1 seed UCLA Bruins taking on the West Virginia Mountaineers.   It ran this way the 3 times I saw it scroll by.
I mean, I think last night wasn’t just a beautiful dream.  It did happen, right?

More West Virginia Fun!

March 25, 2008

I remember watching a West Virginia football game a couple years ago when this dude showed up. The camera was just panning across the first row of fans and all of a sudden this guy comes on the television. I bout fell on the floor laughing at the time. Now? We just can’t lose to these fans.

Exhibit B of why we just can’t lose to a team with this kinda fan base.

But the biggest reason why we can’t lose to West Virginia…..

Also, Lenny Brown RULES!

That is all.

Let’s go X!

So you’re saying, you’re gonna take away my country music award?

March 25, 2008

I don’t have any problems with John Denver. I actually kinda like “Take Me Home, Country Roads.” Talk about a song being tailor made for a state and a school. I don’t really have any feelings towards West Virginia good or bad.(We’ll get to Bob Huggins later this week.) But obviously, I mean seriously, John Denver can’t be all bad when he’s the subject of one of the greatest movie lines of all time……

Roger Clemens doesn’t like Dayton either

February 24, 2008

Even though we are less than two hours before tip off, I just couldn’t let this one go.

As we all know, Roger Clemens is probably a cheater and more importantly a huge d-bag. But that doesn’t mean he can’t be funny d-bag. Okay, a hilarious d-bag.

Bill Simmons, the Sport’s Guy if you will, has a big batch of links he posts every couple of weeks or so. This past week’s batch featured one link that would put a smile on any Xavier fan’s face.

I do feel a little bad for laughing out loud at it, because Hal McCoy is freaking legally blind for crying out loud. Way to show some compassion for your hometown paper just looking for a short interview, Roger.

But when a person of his stature says, “The best thing about Dayton was seeing it in the rear-view mirror.” I mean, that just cannot be ignored. Most people take a certain amount of pride in where they come from. After all, you only get one hometown. Apparently, Roger only cares about himself. But I think we already knew that.

Regardless, the quote is hilarious and had to be mentioned here  at the MB.

Now it’s time to take care of business.  Go X!

Stan the Man vs. Supermodels

February 16, 2008

Not quite sure I should be admitting this, but here it goes….

As ledgewood pointed out recently, Stan the Man was going to be featured in this week’s Sports Illustrated. He had the inside scoop. I could tell you how……but then I’d have to break your legs. So Thursday comes and after work I come home to check out the goods.

However, I was unaware the SI swimsuit issue was coming out that day as well. I look at both covers, and without so much as a nanosecond of thought I grab the SI with Dale Jr. on the cover to search for Stan’s pub.

The sad thing is, I feel no need to apologize for or rationalize my actions. The SI swimsuit issue use to be a big deal for me. But I am now so desensitized to it all by this here internet that hot chicks with hardly anything on, and sometimes nothing at all (i.e. the painted on bikinis) do not leave me in quite the same trance they once did.

Hell, just go to yahoo or google and type in an image search for, oh I don’t know, Shania Twain (Otherwise known as the hottest woman on Earth) and see what you get.

Why Shania Twain? Why the hell not!Why Shania Twain? Why the hell not!

If you are in a more model state of mind, I would recommend a search for Stacey Williams. I always liked her in the SI swimsuit issues back in the day. That day being the mid 90’s. She is not unhot.

So the moral of this little story is that I really like Xavier basketball. Hell, I LOVE Xavier basketball. This team has been a joy to watch this season. Especially, the transformation of Stanley Burrell. Seeing him get this kind of pub is just awesome because we as fans have see it all year long. It’s time for the rest of the country to know about it as well, because the SI swimsuit issue will be here same time next year. Sadly, Stan the Man will not.
